To the many here among us who may not be sport-o’s, all this football mania may strike us as confusing, confounding, or just plain stupid. Well, I wanted to post something for those sportophobes out there in Interweblandia: here is an interesting little tidbit about the Superbowl. This year’s big game will feature two brothers as opposing head coaches: Jim and John Harbaugh. The national media has taken to rebranding The Superbowl as The HarBowl, or simply: Harbowl. Rochester Chip is a monthly series of events dedicated to promoting artists and groups who use the sound chips of retro computers and video game consoles to create new original music. This exciting and often experimental form of electronic music repurposes devices such as Nintendo Gameboys and Atari 2600s as synthesizers and sequencers to create exciting new compositions in a wide array of genres.

Animal Style an audio / visual chiptune project by Joey Mariano. Utilizing clever and inventive songwriting along with effect-laden guitar, Joey has been consistently discovering new grounds in chiptune.

BC Likes You is the solo effort of BC Mostyn, guitarist for Revengineers and co-organizer of Rochester Chip. BC uses guitar, dual-gameboys, and vocoded vocals to create euphoric electronic pop music.

Fowls is a group of three guys creating catchy, riffy, and bright songs with just two guitars, bass and some minimal electronics. Great musicianship , great dudes, great jams.

SBthree was never cool enough to be in a band. Instead he makes weird music with his dad’s saxophone and a gameboy he bought at a garage sale.

Visuals by VJ PLZ. The most solid of bros with a bottomless pocket of animated .gifs, bright colors and rare gems of video.

On Wednesday, October 17th, Austin Texas’ dark and reverb-drenched rockers Ringo Deathstarr (https://www.facebook.com/ringodeathstarr) will be cruising into The Bug Jar. They have been charting hard on WITR and many college and regional radio stations, and they absolutely slay it live!

In support will be Rochester’s duo-drumming, mind-numbing, stoner-rock heroes Abandoned Buildings Club and the infectiously catchy and fun Spaceweather Shakes. This is one heck of a lineup on a weeknight; you don’t have anything better to do… trust me!

The Bug Jar is pleased to welcome Roanoke, VA’s pop darlings, Eternal Summers.
